Our bins are crafted from sustainably sourced solid wood, premium brushed stainless steel, and durable ABS inner liners. The wood exteriors are treated with a food-safe, water-resistant coating to protect against moisture and daily wear.

Each smart bin is equipped with a high-precision infrared motion sensor located just above the lid. Simply wave your hand within 15-20 cm of the sensor and the lid opens silently. It closes automatically after 5 seconds of no motion, sealing odours inside.

The sensor module runs on 4 AA batteries (included), which typically last 6-8 months with normal daily use. A low-battery indicator light will flash red when it is time to replace them. Rechargeable batteries work perfectly.

Yes. All our bins are designed to fit standard kitchen bin liners available at any supermarket. The inner ring holds the liner securely in place so it stays hidden from view. We recommend 30-40L liners for our standard models.

We offer free standard shipping on all orders over $100 within New Zealand. Standard delivery takes 3-5 business days. Express shipping (1-2 business days) is available for a flat rate of $15. International shipping to Australia takes 5-10 business days. All orders are dispatched within 24 hours from our Dunedin warehouse.

Absolutely. Every MIKAERE WOOD bin comes with a 2-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The sensor module is covered for 1 year. If anything goes wrong, we will repair or replace your bin at no cost.

Wipe the wood exterior with a soft, slightly damp cloth — do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive sponges. The stainless steel lid and inner liner can be cleaned with mild soap and warm water. Dry thoroughly before reassembling. Avoid soaking the sensor area. With proper care, your bin will stay beautiful for years.
